To be led by Marieke Brugman, this program combines her two greatest passions: a love of India that has evolved over the many years of leading cultural tours to the subcontinent with her commitment to evolving her yoga journey. This is her third visit to the incomparable and inspiring Shreyas Retreat.
Marieke’s colleague Baxter has trained with Sivananda in Trivandrum and has evolved a strong interest in anatomy, yoga therapy and yogic nutrition as part of her teaching practice and is now embarking on the final year of Yoga therapy training being taught by renowned teachers from Chennai under the direction of Dr Natesan Chandrasekaran MBBS (Dr NC MBBS), (previously Director of Therapy at the Krisnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, and Founder of the Viniyoga Healing Foundation of India). These studies are based on the ancient teachings as revived by T Krisnamacharya, (teacher of TKV Desikachar, BKS Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois and Indra Devi) combined with the extensive experience of Dr NC as KYM Director of Yoga Therapy as well as being an allopathic medical doctor for thirty years.
Baxter has developed a loyal following of students on the Mornington Peninsula, a host of private clients, works with individuals, groups, corporates, organisations and schools in class settings, one-on-ones, seminars, workshops and home-study courses.
Balusundar Iyer is Shreyas’ Head of Yoga & Spiritual/Holisitic Counselling.
Balusundar originally trained as a young engineer until he found his Himalayan Guru and then went on to spend years in ashrams. The last 18 years have been devoted to learning, practicing and teaching Yoga and Meditation under many adepts and masters. He has conducted classes, courses, retreats and workshops in yoga and meditation for students, young adults, families and the corporate sector. He has also conduced Yoga Teacher Training programs for school teachers and taught at many local and international schools in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
