Hepburn Springs Residential Yoga Retreat with Saraswathi Vasudevan 7-10 November 2017

Prana, Sound and Mind

Exploring and integrating  the healing power of the breath, chanting and meditative practices in daily living. Drawing models and inspiration from the Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita and the Upanisads,  you will learn how to build simple yet powerful practices  towards better health, deeper understanding and inner freedom.

Following on from two enthusiastically and well attended three-day workshops @ Portsea/Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula in March 2016 and 2017, it now gives us great pleaaure to announce a residential retreat in the charming, historic central Victorian spa town of Hepburn Springs, about 90 minutes out of Melbourne.
Saraswathi Vasudevan is the most accomplished teacher I have had the good fortune to ever study with. Based in Chennai, she teaches internationally and has touched the lives of many hundreds of students. She is continuing in the noble Krishnamacharya tradition and radiantly lives and breathes the purpose of yoga in managing life's daily vicissitudes. Don't expect the usual humdrum platitudes of yoga 'languaging'; rather expect that you will be opened to life's possibilities lived with greater ease, purpose and fulfilment.

The Journey of Yoga is so much more than asana. Without the power of breath it is no more than a ‘workout’. This is a rare opportunity to work ‘within’ and learn from one of India’s great masters, Saraswathi Vasuvedan who is visiting Australia from Chennai.

This workshop will explore two fundamental tools of yoga and help you intensify and advance your daily yoga practice beyond asana. If you are a yoga teacher or therapist, you will be able to integrate the learning into your teaching practice making your offering richer, more meaningful and appropriate for our current needs.

We are honoured to have Saras teach this programme. Saraswathi began her journey in the path of yoga and healing 25 years ago. She studied and trained in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya that is strongly founded in the teachings of Patanjali and specialises in adapting yoga to the unique needs and abilities of each individual. She holds two Masters Degrees (in Nutrition and Psychology) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga.

In 2010, Saraswathi founded YogaVahini, dedicated to Specialised Yoga Training, Therapy & Research with centres in Chennai and Hyderabad. She runs regular training programs for lay practitioners, teachers and therapists. Her dream is to bring personalised yoga therapy into mainstream health care in India. Saraswathi works by integrating the traditional wisdom of Yoga with modern facilitation skills.
She is gifted with an innate capacity to establish deeply nurturing connections with her students that enables and empowers them to grow and heal from within.

In our time together, we will walk, chant, practice asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and relaxation techniques, and simple mindfulness training exercises (such as mindful eating and mindful walking) that will help you develop awareness throughout the day – all techniques and practices that you will be able to take home and apply to your daily life and perhaps even share with your loved ones.
